Happy Holidays & Now it's Time to Take a Break

All the orders that came in on or before the 21st of December have been shipped. They're gone, off in the chaotic la-la land of post office fumbles. I won't be resuming shipping until the 28th, but since nobody's ordering anything at the moment, I suppose letting you all know this is a moot point. So enjoy the holiday. Try to remember what it's really all about. Not how much stuff you can buy or how much you get, but how much are you loved? How much do you love? Gather all that love around you and celebrate what you already have, not what you want or didn't get. Happy Holidays! And a blessed New Year!

Last Shopping/Shipping Day at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary!

ABOUT SHIPPING RIGHT NOW (Dec. 21-January 1, 2010) ~ it's sketchy, my friends. I'm getting emails from folks whose orders went out over a week ago who've not yet received their orders, and I'm getting info that orders sent last Tuesday have already arrived! My turn-around time isn't always the promised 48 hours, though, in some cases, it is ~ I'm hitting the post office at least twice a week. 'Tis the season for slow shipping. All orders placed before December 21st are guaranteed (that's my guarantee, not the post office's guarantee -- they don't guarantee anything) to be shipped on the 22nd of December. That's the last shipping date for this week, but which does NOT mean you will receive your order by the 25th of December . Orders placed after December 21st will be shipped December 28th, which I imagine to be a madhouse expedition of prograstinators. Oh, joy!

NEW Divinity of Blue Lotus Creme Parfum

NEW at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary ~ the long-anticipated blue lotus creme parfum . Ohm.

Solid Parfum & Roll-On Parfum

There are only a few of these little gems left -- and I am adding a simple blue lotus solid soon, but here's the "thing", you only have a few days left to order your smellies before the holidays, and some of these are being purchased from the back door . . . here now, gone in five minutes. You don't want to miss out on the Jalali Creme Parfum with its one-of-a-kind scent profile ~ comes from the mountain misery/kit-kit-dizzee (I didn't make up that/those name(s) so please don't tell me it's/they're no good and to change it/them, k? My name's Justine, and as lousy as you think that name may be, I still won't let you call me Rosemary because you like it better). The roll-on parfum I'm working on, the one with that really lovely galbanum resin, is going up soon -- you don't want to miss out. It contains a really rare green fig tincture that's had all the alcohol evaporated off, leaving this dark, delicious, green-toned, figgy/pruney sy

Vanilla Ginger Handmade Soap ~

The Scented Djinn's Vanilla Ginger Decadent Handmade soap is delicious ~ like fruitcake should be, but isn't, but looks like it could be, but isn't. So instead of giving a hard-as-a-hockey-puck fruitcake for gifts this year, why not splurge and buy something you know they're really going to love? Something they'll actually use for other than propping open a swinging door? Yeah, they're about a sixteenth the size of one of those cow patty fruitcakes, but the pleasure your friends and relatives will receive, both from not trying to apply a smile to their mortified faces when you hand over a fruitcake loosely wrapped in cling film with a big red bow on top (like that makes it all better), and from the knowledge that you actually thought about them (hey, everyone bathes, right? Well, we hope) far overrides your reluctance to hand over a little 3.5 oz package bursting with real vanilla essence with a bit of fresh ginger spice. There are loads of vanilla in this so

Overwhelming Response!

The creme parfums at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary are a hit! Jalali sold out in less than two weeks, there is only one Garden of Kedar left, and the latest offering, Viridian Grotto, is down to three available. All I can say to my faithful customers is THANK YOU! Thank you so very much for appreciating these delicate little creme parfums ~ I put a lot of thought and work into their creation and to see them being appreciated in this way warms my heart. But that's not all . . . free shipping is still on the books and if you order and shipping is added, I'll see it and remove it; Jalali is in its second batch soon to be offered (later today, methinks), and there's another little lovely brewing, a blue lotus blend that will blow your mind. And maybe something else after that. Again, thank you, my scented lovlies :)

Mini Review of Patchouli Cilantro Butter Scrub

"Patchouli finally finds his match. This is a great blend because normally patchouli takes over whatever you put it up against, but not this time around. You get a lot of product in this, and the texture is creamy, the scent is dreamy. Love this." At The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary ~ link to your right ------>

NEW Garden of Kedar Creme Parfum

NEW Garden of Kedar Creme Parfum ~ at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary. Delicious jasmine sambac with aloeswood CO2 and vintage orris root resin ~ aaahhhhh.

Change of Mind

So I was going to make a solid perfume with jasmine sambac and vintage/antique sandalwood, but at the last minute, as I was going through my vintage collection, I decided instead to use vintage orris and vintage oakmoss, and a little aloeswood CO2 ~ the scent profile is completely different. Mo' bett'a, I'd say, and I think you're going to like it. I'll post the link to this new solid perfume as soon as I have them ready. 'Til then, adios amigos!

Pine Cone Fireballs at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary!

Pine Cone Fireballs are an old mountain favorite of mine, really fun for the holidays. These are scavenged pine cones that have been washed and air dried, then sprayed with green mandarin, pink grapefruit, cinnamon leaf oil and a little love bud oil, then covered in powdered spices ~ star anise, allspice, tons of cinnamon, and "sealed" with a little frankincense hydrosol. What do you do with them? Oh, well, you can leave them in a bowl for everyone to sniff as they pass by, or you can use them for their intended purpose, fodder for the fireplace :) Thus, the "fireballs" at the end of their name . . . Carefully toss ONE fireball at a time into your fireplace or outdoor firepit, cover with a screen, and stand in amazement as the air fills with the lulling scent of holiday cheer. Okay, that was a bunch of utter marketing bs, but the air will smell piney and a bit like mulled wine. 2 cones per bag, 1 large, one small Pine Cone Fireballs
