Aged Patchouli

Patchouli oil, well aged and carefully stored, can become the most subliminally beautiful material in a perfumer's palette, moving from a young, fresh earthy, musky, dusty, breathless quality to darkly floral, honied, sweet, warm, sensual, euphoric.

Independent Perfume Production

Small scale, independent, niche, natural and botanical in structure, handcrafted, hand bottled, hand labeled, optimal quality ~  The Scented Djinn creates small batches of carefully crafted natural and botanical perfume compounds. Natural perfumes take months, even years, to formulate, and then a period of time is allowed for the finished composition to meld harmoniously.  Rare, exotic, expensive -- the origins of the raw materials that go into making a single bottle of our lush perfume span the globe -- decadent jasmin sambac, patchouli, and santal from India, cananga and vanilla from Indonesia, vetyver, earthy and dark and carnal, hails from the soil of Haiti, roses from Morocco, labdanum from Spain, orris from the southern fields of France.  Each bottle we pour our perfumes into is carefully selected to offer optimal variety -- our 15 ml (1/2 ounce) spray bottles are lovely and decorative,  beautifully labeled, and spray a fine mist of scent; our 10 ml roll-on bottles off

Mourning Kyphi in the Works

For when you're feeling your Miss Havisham coming on ~ Mourning Incense is a kyphi-style incense made with honey, frankincense, myrrh, white fir, elemi resin, pinon pine resin, oakmoss, orris, jasmine sambac concrete, and red wine. Available June 2014 at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary.

Ta Da!

Finally, the Rose Rock soaps are done and ready to put up on Etsy. Made with a perfumed scent formulation based around patchouli and rosey essences, this is one nice, hunky, chunky, clay spa style soap that's just waiting to make you feel special. The base soap formula is made with extra virgin olive oil, organic virgin coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil, shea butter, and loads of skin detoxifying red clay. At just the right moment, the perfume was added, made with an aged patchouli oil, bois de rose oil, clary sage oil, bergamot, blood orange, petit grain sur fleur neroli, and lavandin abrial. The soaps have a dusky rose and earth scent to them. Very nice.

New Summer Hydrosols

The Scented Djinn is once again embarking on a few distillation projects, perhaps reviving our famous, and famously effective, Kombu Seaweed & Lime Hydrosol. We've recently acquired a wee lovely glass distillation unit in which we are planning a few rose distillations, and we are awaiting our yearly supply of grosso lavender flowers and white sage for distillation as well. We check the local farmer's markets for anything new and exciting that can go into our little still of wonders, so watch for something you've never seen before. Our hydrosols are made in small batch distillations, carefully tended to create the most amazingly gorgeous result. It's been a few years since we've embarked upon a distillation session -- too many years -- and we're very anxious to get back to doing what we love. We will keep you apprised of the hydrosol situation here. In the meantime, visit our Etsy Apothecary .
