The Scented Djinn

In four days, on the 20th of April, The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary will put up for sale that long-awaited and beautifully fragrant Lavender Kyphi Supreme. Kyphi takes time to 'become' kyphi. The fragrant materials must meld and combine to create divinity in a tiny little triangle of scent. The Scented Djinn recommends this kyphi be burned on an electric heater or old-fashioned oil burner to release the subtlety of scent and the spiritual aspects of the blend. Burning on charcoal is also an option, however this creates a great deal of smoke and the kyphi burns up quickly. In May a limited edition perfume will be released, the first perfume by The Scented Djinn in a long time. This perfume diverges just a bit from the prior perfumes released by The Scented Djinn in that it is a bit more traditional than our other offerings. More information regarding that perfume will come about when the perfume makes its debut.

The Natural Perfume Academy online, the school where I teach, tutor, and mentor students of Natural Botanical Perfumery, is readying for the newest course, the six-month intensive, which opens in late February and begins instruction in March. Farat is a sweet spring themed eau de toilette featuring notes of jasmine, rose, neroli, lavender and bergamot, with rare notes of Buddha's hand citron and a lovely vegetal musk. Petitgrain and spices round out this precious scent. Served in three sizes: 15 ml spray, 10 ml roll-on, and 3 ml sample spray.

Mmmmm, this soap is divine! Creamy and soothing, made with cold pressed extra virgin olive and coconut oils, and a generous splash of coconut cream, and scented with delicious joy inspiring oils and absolutes ~ neroli, bergamot, petit grain, dark patchouli, jasmine grandiflorum floral infusion and jasmine sambac absolute, plus a few drops of vetyver oil ~ again, mmmmm. What's most amazing is that the rose damascena flower buds which grace this soap smell delicious too! A super floral, super lovely soap for your super skin. Why Happiness and Tranquility ? Because neroli and bergamot and rose inspire joy, and vetyver and patchouli inspire tranquility. A most peaceful soap. And those spots? Those are made from drizzling a wee bit of the scent oils over the top of the soap as it cured.

The Scented Djinn is offering our newest soap, Sylvan Dreams, at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary The base is a simple virgin olive, organic coconut, and coconut milk -- non-drying, super bubbly. The scent base is a forest lovers dream ~ rich in balsam fir, Virginia cedar and blood cedar enhanced by the oils of copaiba (antique), juniper berry, patchouli, cananga, black pepper and lemon. We also added just the barest hint of natural isolate raspberry ketone to boost the deep dark berry notes found in balsam fir. The result is a fresh, rustic, outdoorsy scent with 'sticking' power. Also included as an exfoliating agent are bits of crushed pine resin and Douglas fir pine needle tips. 3 - 3.25 oz bar ~ $4.50

Kyphi Class in the Tower District The kyphi making class is scheduled for October 13, 2012 from 1pm to 4pm -- I'd like to 'invite' whoever wishes to join me for this special class. The class cost is $20 and you receive full instruction in the creation of Ancient Egyptian incense making, plus 9 grams of very strongly scented handmade kyphi (Golden Kyphi) from The Scented Djinn. Golden Kyphi Pre-Orders The Golden Kyphi will be ready September 8th, so I will be taking pre-orders for those who want to get the jump on it.  Golden Kyphi Par fume of the ancients, The Scented Djinn's Golden Kyphi is a lush fragrant smoking incense infused with intentions to ~ Banish Negativity ~ Golden raisins and organic apricots are soaked in rose wine and combined with warm honey infused with frankincense resin; over the course of weeks, more aromatics are added ~ benzoin, hand crushed myrrh resin, Egyptian chamomile, aloeswood, galangal, white santal, green cardamom, calamus & saffron. Oils of olibanum from Oman, India and Somalia are added,  as well as oils of myrrh, styrax, labdanum, vintage Mysore santal, Himalayan cedarwood, balsam fir, coriander, spikenard & galbanum As the kyphi dries the oils of rose, ambriene and Siam benzoin are added ~ the kyphi rests for 60 days ~ 9 grams ~ $ 4.40 (charcoal NOT included)
