For this newest Creme Parfum, we dug deep -- into the box of rare and exquisite aromatics, the box with the oldest patchouli and frankincense, the richest and rarest floral absolutes, and the strangest and most surprising scents in the world and came up with this little gem ~ an incense inspired floral creme parfum we call Coeur de l'encens -- the heart of incense. We used a gorgeous (never used in our studio before) 13-year-old finely extracted frankincense absolute, a luscious and sweet jasmine sambac concrete, and a generous amount of our limited Uttar Pradesh steam-distilled organic rose essential oil. All together, blended with the raw unrefined super sweet beeswax and soft creamy shea butter, this creme parfum smells like a fine soft powdery floral incense. Stunning and not to be missed.

The Egyptian Kyphi Parfum Oil is now ready and is listed on our Etsy site for sale. We formulated the parfum oil using two kinds of frankincense oil, a carterii with high pine notes, and a rivae with soft woody warm note, then we added a vintage myrrh, a vintage lemongrass oil, a bit of green cognac for the wine aspect, warm, sweet benzoin, galangal, mastic, cedarmoss, camphor, labdanum, pine, cedarwood, cassia, santal, orris, galbanum, and honey. Made in organic jojoba. 10 mls roll-on bottle.

The newest, and technically first, in a series of oil based natural perfumes is being worked on ~ Yasmina, a gorgeous jasmine grandiflorum soliflore (which really isn't a soliflore at all since we add other elements to make the jasmine shine). Our new line of oil-based perfumes are made using organic jojoba oil and the finest essential oils, absolutes, concretes, waxes, and CO2's we can find. Coming soon!

Modhlim, the newest addition to The Scented Djinn's perfumes is up for sale May 15, 2014. This is a complex floral enveloped in dark, smoky tea notes, musk, moss, grasses, and savory spices.

In four days, on the 20th of April, The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary will put up for sale that long-awaited and beautifully fragrant Lavender Kyphi Supreme. Kyphi takes time to 'become' kyphi. The fragrant materials must meld and combine to create divinity in a tiny little triangle of scent. The Scented Djinn recommends this kyphi be burned on an electric heater or old-fashioned oil burner to release the subtlety of scent and the spiritual aspects of the blend. Burning on charcoal is also an option, however this creates a great deal of smoke and the kyphi burns up quickly. In May a limited edition perfume will be released, the first perfume by The Scented Djinn in a long time. This perfume diverges just a bit from the prior perfumes released by The Scented Djinn in that it is a bit more traditional than our other offerings. More information regarding that perfume will come about when the perfume makes its debut.

Farat is a sweet spring themed eau de toilette featuring notes of jasmine, rose, neroli, lavender and bergamot, with rare notes of Buddha's hand citron and a lovely vegetal musk. Petitgrain and spices round out this precious scent. Served in three sizes: 15 ml spray, 10 ml roll-on, and 3 ml sample spray.

Atay unfolds on the skin like a blossoming flower, opening with notes of crisp ginger and bergamot with hints of cassia, then slowly undulates toward a rich, creamy, honied floral with soft rounded notes of seductive sandalwood and dark bitter tea, ending with delicious vanilla tinged honey and tuberose and more creamy santal. The Scented Djinn has obtained some lovely, well-cared-for vintage oils for soaping -- rosemary, peppermint, cocoa resinoid, palmarosa, Egyptian and Comoros basils, hops, elemi (oh, lovely vintage elemi), pimento berry, and angelica. Aren't you excited? We are! We are also working on organizing the new workspace to provide easy access to the perfuming oils, which until now have been packed away, or scattered haphazardly across the work bench, used mostly for evaluation and scent reinforcement exercises. Now we're ready to get to work! We also found a lovely artisan distiller of beautiful lavender oil, Ring Botanicals in Portland, Oregon. You can tell from the quality of the oils that Ring Botanicals takes a lot of care and patience in the preparation of their distillations.
