I love serendipitous meetings! Yesterday, after spending a bit of time wrapping and labeling two small batches of soap, I walked down to the tea shop (Wilwand) to deliver some of the soap. After sitting at the tea bar for an hour or so, and drinking down three cups of a magical blend that was out of this world beautiful, I opened the bag of goodies to show the shop keep. I had brought three Sarasvati soaps, and seven Lavender Kyphi soaps, plus a sample of Sarasvati for the owner to use, and a sample of the newest compounded incense resin and parfum, Thracian Rose ~ well, the incense parfum got worn and burned, and four bars of soap were sold before I left the place! I do have to admit, though, that these latest scent wares have come out stunningly fragrant and hit the spot olfactorily with a lot of people. The reason I brought only three of the Sarasvati soap? Ansali Aromatic Soap is just that -- aromatic! But besides being really heavily scented, it's got some skin-loving stuff in it as well, like passionflower extract and coconut cream, and patchouli! Finally, the Rose Rock soaps are done and ready to put up on Etsy. Made with a perfumed scent formulation based around patchouli and rosey essences, this is one nice, hunky, chunky, clay spa style soap that's just waiting to make you feel special. The base soap formula is made with extra virgin olive oil, organic virgin coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil, shea butter, and loads of skin detoxifying red clay. At just the right moment, the perfume was added, made with an aged patchouli oil, bois de rose oil, clary sage oil, bergamot, blood orange, petit grain sur fleur neroli, and lavandin abrial. The soaps have a dusky rose and earth scent to them. Very nice.

A photo of the finished soap, and the process by which it was created, was going to be posted here for our clients, but both our cameras (both!) have died and the chargers cannot be located. It's a real problem. New chargers have been ordered and photos of The Scented Djinn's creations will follow. Mmmmm, this soap is divine! Creamy and soothing, made with cold pressed extra virgin olive and coconut oils, and a generous splash of coconut cream, and scented with delicious joy inspiring oils and absolutes ~ neroli, bergamot, petit grain, dark patchouli, jasmine grandiflorum floral infusion and jasmine sambac absolute, plus a few drops of vetyver oil ~ again, mmmmm. What's most amazing is that the rose damascena flower buds which grace this soap smell delicious too! A super floral, super lovely soap for your super skin. Why Happiness and Tranquility ? Because neroli and bergamot and rose inspire joy, and vetyver and patchouli inspire tranquility. A most peaceful soap. And those spots? Those are made from drizzling a wee bit of the scent oils over the top of the soap as it cured.

The Scented Djinn has obtained some lovely, well-cared-for vintage oils for soaping -- rosemary, peppermint, cocoa resinoid, palmarosa, Egyptian and Comoros basils, hops, elemi (oh, lovely vintage elemi), pimento berry, and angelica. Aren't you excited? We are! We are also working on organizing the new workspace to provide easy access to the perfuming oils, which until now have been packed away, or scattered haphazardly across the work bench, used mostly for evaluation and scent reinforcement exercises. Now we're ready to get to work! We also found a lovely artisan distiller of beautiful lavender oil, Ring Botanicals in Portland, Oregon. You can tell from the quality of the oils that Ring Botanicals takes a lot of care and patience in the preparation of their distillations. The Scented Djinn is offering our newest soap, Sylvan Dreams, at The Scented Djinn Etsy Apothecary The base is a simple virgin olive, organic coconut, and coconut milk -- non-drying, super bubbly. The scent base is a forest lovers dream ~ rich in balsam fir, Virginia cedar and blood cedar enhanced by the oils of copaiba (antique), juniper berry, patchouli, cananga, black pepper and lemon. We also added just the barest hint of natural isolate raspberry ketone to boost the deep dark berry notes found in balsam fir. The result is a fresh, rustic, outdoorsy scent with 'sticking' power. Also included as an exfoliating agent are bits of crushed pine resin and Douglas fir pine needle tips. 3 - 3.25 oz bar ~ $4.50
